The enamelling technique Ashleigh uses replicates the beauty of botnaical objects. This gives the otherwise fragile nature of a leaf or flower a permanent presence which will never change.
Enamelling is the fusing of glass to a metal surface. Using copper for the base it can create the most wonderful range of colours.
By cutting the copper first and forming the shape, the powdered glass is then placed on the surface and fired in a kiln. Once inside the kiln the outcome cannot be controlled making every piece unique.
